Reduced Inequalities

Jahangirnagar University contributes to reducing inequalities through financial assistance opportunities, student counselling, special needs education, and mechanisms for reporting concerns. Financial Assistance and Targeted Support

The university publishes scholarship and financial assistance notices, including supplementary scholarships, trust fund scholarships, and grants for undergraduate and postgraduate students. These opportunities can help eligible students manage educational expenses.

Published notices also include government stipends for students from minority communities and students with visual and other disabilities. These schemes are relevant to supporting groups facing additional barriers to participation.

Special Needs Education

Jahangirnagar University operates a Special Needs Education Centre (SNEC), a school serving children and young adults with special needs. Its stated mission includes education, therapeutic intervention, community acceptance, and research on autism and family well-being.

Examination Accommodation

The university published a notice titled “Examination Rules – Extra Time for Autistic Students” on 30 September 2026.

Counselling and Student Support

The Students Counselling and Guidance Centre provides psychosocial support, counselling, career guidance, and skills development activities. Its published services include individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, consultations, and victim or survivor advocacy. These services offer support for students experiencing personal, social, or academic difficulties.

Reporting Harassment and Campus Concerns

The university maintains an official webpage for its Sexual Harassment Complaints Committee. The JUCSU Complaint and Advice Centre also offers an online route for submitting concerns, with an anonymous submission option and status tracking. These mechanisms provide channels through which students can raise issues affecting their university experience.

    Anandashala, the Special Needs Education Centre, organised a procession and discussion marking World Autism Awareness Day.

    The Special Needs Education Centre organised annual sports and a picnic, supporting participation by its learners.

    The Central Admissions Committee abolished the admissions quota for grandchildren of freedom fighters and the Vice-Chancellor’s designated quota.

  2. 21 December 2024

    The Faculty of Social Sciences organised “Climate Change and Adaptation Pathways: Perspectives from Vulnerable Ethnic Communities.”

  3. October–December 2024

    Financial and medical assistance was provided for students and others injured during the July–August uprising.

    Anandashala celebrated its 15th establishment anniversary.
