Renewable Energy Research

The Department of Environmental Sciences identifies renewable energy among its research areas, alongside environmental modelling, climate change mitigation, and resource management. These fields support the study of energy transitions and their environmental implications.

Research on Energy Access and Performance

Published faculty work includes an evaluation of solar home system implementation in Harirampur, Bangladesh. Such research contributes evidence relevant to assessing renewable energy provision and its effectiveness in local settings.

Faculty research also examines residential building energy consumption in Dhaka in relation to socioeconomic conditions and building geometry. This work is relevant to understanding energy demand and opportunities for more efficient building design.

Education Supporting Sustainable Energy Decisions

Teaching in Environmental Sciences includes sustainability and climate-related subjects. Together with renewable energy research, these activities help students understand connections between energy choices, environmental impacts, and development.

    The process of providing gas connections to six newly constructed residential halls began. Engineers from Titas Gas inspected the halls and conducted the necessary surveys.
