Financial Support for Students

The university publishes scholarship and financial assistance opportunities, including supplementary scholarships, trust fund scholarships, and grants for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Academic Strengths

Jahangirnagar University offers academic programmes in Botany, Microbiology, Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, and other biological sciences. Its Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering programme covers areas including plant biotechnology, microbiology, molecular biology, and industrial applications of biological systems. These disciplines provide knowledge relevant to agricultural productivity and food-system challenges.

The Department of Botany also provides education and research training in plant science. This academic foundation can prepare graduates to contribute to research on crops, plant health, and sustainable agricultural practices.

Agricultural Training and Knowledge Transfer

Jahangirnagar University has reported a training workshop titled “Building a Complete Agricultural Block Model Using GIS and Remote Sensing,” organised through its Department of Geography and Environment. The workshop demonstrates engagement with technical skills relevant to agricultural mapping and planning.

The Institute of Remote Sensing and GIS also provides skills development training and conducts research on socioeconomic and ecological challenges associated with disasters and climate change. This work is relevant to understanding environmental pressures on agriculture and livelihoods.
